What the three procedures mean

One step, euro area

The cooperative pays the seller by ordinary transfer from Dublin. No currency is converted and no customs frontier is crossed. Delivery takes nine days on average after approval.

Handling 4.00 EUR

Cover step, other EEA currency

The seller wants krona, zloty or krone. The cooperative buys exactly the sum owed at the reference rate on the day, holds it for as long as the payment takes, and holds none of it afterwards.

Handling 4.00 EUR + three days

Customs and screening, outside the EEA

A customs declaration, a check against the sanctions lists binding an Irish payment institution, and tariffs at the rate the goods attract. Four to seven weeks is usual.

Handling 4.00 EUR + tariffs

Grounds of refusal

Three grounds account for nearly every refusal:

A request for an item outside the catalogue may be made at any teller. It is examined on its own facts, and the answer comes within twenty-one days.
