Notice of outdatedness

Written mainly in 2026, content current to June 2027, fixed thereafter

This page is written from outside the Republic and treats the site as a published object. Every other page operates within the fiction.

Dates

The Republic of Fluid is a work of fiction by a single author. Its territory, organs, residents and history exist in these pages and nowhere else. The register was written mainly during 2026, and its content is current to June 2027.

Every date, figure, seat count, budget period and composition published here describes the fictional world as of that month. Material dated after June 2027 was written as projection and stands unrevised for as long as the site remains online.

Reading the register after June 2027

The register runs independently of elapsed time. Its assembly page contains the composition projected for the ordinary election of 4 July 2027 and keeps that composition through each subsequent election year, and the same applies to the planning rounds, the ecological budget periods and the reporting dates on the sites of the organs.

The whole register is therefore read as a document of the year it was made, in the manner of an archived text.

Why the content stays fixed

Continuous revision would serve no purpose. A simulation game such as NationStates advances its world alongside the calendar and derives its interest from doing so; this register was written as a fixed text and derives no interest. The Republic was designed as a fixed setting, with no bearing on the present day, and its internal chronology is based on the narrative history in the history section.

Fiction is ordinarily fixed at the moment of its writing. A novel published in 1979 keeps its 1979 through every year that follows, and its author issues no annual revision to bring the streets up to date. The same convention governs here.

Forks and fan fiction

The repository is published under the GNU General Public Licence, version 3. Under those terms any person may fork the register, write about the Republic past June 2027, revise what the author left standing, or write fiction set in the same world.

A continuation of that kind belongs to the person who made it, and this register will keep no record of it.
