Calmena
Calmena is a town of 154,000 residents in the sub-region of Tessilius, in the Western Region of the Republic of Fluid. The textile town of the river terraces. The repair workshops closed under the Directorate were re-established here.
Setting
Calmena lies in the central valley of Tessilius, on the river terraces where the water falls in steps. That fall powered the first mechanised looms, sited here in the 1860s. The upper part of the sub-region has the climate of the western upland, cooler and wetter than the plains.
History
The looms drew the first industrial workforce from the surrounding villages, and the Unionist Party had its strongest branches here before 1890. The Directorate closed the repair shops in 1961 because repair produced no tonnage. They reopened in 1975 under the Assembly Reform, and the Republic's present duty of repairability in Article 33 is drafted from the Calmena workshops' own rules.
Work and provision
Cloth, clothing and footwear cooperatives, the national repair training school, and the tool library network that supplies the western region.
Government
Elected communal council under Article 141(2).
Historic and descriptive record maintained by the Office of Constitutional Revision. It is not law.
