Maravel
Maravel is a town of 121,000 residents in the sub-region of Merrisoma, in the Western Region of the Republic of Fluid. The fishing town of the north-west, on a shallow bay of salt marsh, mudflat and dune.
Setting
Maravel is on the inner north-western bay, a drowned valley whose water is shallow, with the Merrisoma salt marsh behind it. The marsh is the largest intertidal system in the Republic and the principal wintering ground for migratory birds on this coast, and is protected against conversion under Article 30(1). The bay faces north-west and amplifies a surge from that quarter, and the strongest gust in the national record, 47 metres per second, was recorded at the headland in February 1962.
History
A herring town from the eighteenth century. The fleet was requisitioned for supply runs under both blockades, and thirty-one boats were lost between 1940 and 1945. Catch limits computed below documented regeneration were introduced here first, in 1979, over the objection of the fleet.
Work and provision
Fishing and processing cooperatives, boat repair, marsh restoration, and the marine research station that supplies the Ecological Budget Authority with its harvest figures for the northern populations under Article 25(1)(e).
Government
Elected communal council under Article 141(2).
Historic and descriptive record maintained by the Office of Constitutional Revision. It is not law.
