Solvena
Solvena is a town of 149,000 residents in the sub-region of Quintorum, in the Eastern Region of the Republic of Fluid. The town of the eastern grain basin. Three of its harvests failed in the seven years to 2019.
Setting
Solvena is at the centre of the Quintorum basin, the flattest and driest district of the Republic, sheltered by the interior divide at Ilvara. Rainfall is below 500 millimetres a year, and the soils are fertile and drought-prone together. The basin is farmed in monoculture.
History
The basin fed the Republic through both blockades. Between 2013 and 2019 it failed three harvests in seven years, a frequency without precedent in the record. Environment and Justice took the seat in 2019 and has held it since.
Work and provision
Grain and pulse cooperatives, the national grain reserve, irrigation works operating under abstraction limits computed per basin under Article 23(1)(d), and the drought research station.
