Venasca
Venasca is a town of 88,000 residents in the sub-region of Ombraqui, in the Western Region of the Republic of Fluid. The warmest and most sheltered district of the Republic, holding its orchards and vines.
Setting
Venasca lies in a south-facing valley behind the western uplands, sheltered from the northern weather. Ombraqui is the warmest and sunniest district of the Republic, with a January mean of 6.1 °C and the longest growing season in the country, which is why the orchards and the vines are here.
History
The orchards are older than the Republic. The town resisted mechanisation longer than anywhere else and was for that reason left largely alone by the Directorate, which set it no tonnage target.
Work and provision
Orchards, vines, preserving and distilling cooperatives, and the propagation station that maintains the fruit varieties recorded under Article 29(6).
