Corporate
Maasdelta Concentrates B.V
A private company constituted under the law of the Netherlands in February 2026, formed for one purpose: to hold a licence under the Constitution the Republic adopted that year, and to trade the concentrate that comes out of the western uplands.
How the company came to be here
Concentrate has left this coast since 1985. What changed on 7 July 2026 is the instrument under which a foreign company may handle any of it. The Constitution that came into force that day put every foreign entity operating in the Republic onto a revocable licence, on terms that had no precedent anywhere the founders of this company had traded before.
Maasdelta was incorporated in Rotterdam five months earlier, in anticipation of exactly that. Its four founders had read the draft, understood that the old ways of operating in the Republic were ending, and formed a company whose sole business would be a trade conducted on the new terms.
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 1956 | Uranium is found above Ferrista and under the Kelvaqui moor, during the search for a replacement for the coal and oil the embargo had cut off. |
| 1985 | The Republic begins exporting concentrate, its own reactors having come into service in 1970. |
| Feb 2026 | Maasdelta Concentrates B.V. is incorporated at Rotterdam, on the strength of the published draft of the Constitution. |
| Jul 2026 | The Constitution comes into force. The company is granted Licence RF-21/2026-09 on the same day and loads its first cargo at Lindoma on 24 July. |
| Aug 2026 | The company challenges the notice period for a change to the loading rules at Lindoma, on procedural regularity. The challenge is dismissed. |
| Sep 2026 | Four consignments handled. Eleven entities hold a licence under Article 21. |
Why the company took this licence
The terms are the worst this company has ever traded on. It holds no property in the Republic and may not acquire any. It cannot go to arbitration and must answer in the courts of a state whose law it had no part in making. In any question about the ecological budgets it carries the burden of proving itself right. A protective measure can be challenged on procedure alone. The licence can be taken away at any hour, and the technique the company brings passes into the knowledge commons whether the company likes it or not.
Against that stands the deposit. It is shallow, extensive and of unusually good grade, it is the only mineral wealth this territory has ever held in quantity, and the Republic is now retiring the reactors that consumed the greater part of it. Domestic demand falls on a published schedule while the surplus available for export rises.
The founders judged that a term of good tonnage on bad terms was worth more than the alternatives available to a house of this size, and that the licence conditions, however heavy, are at least written down and published.
Terms on which the company contracts
The position after 2038
The Republic classes fission as transitional. Each reactor authorisation lapses on a date already certified, its own fuel demand falls on a published schedule, and the mining authorisations carry dates of their own. The company has no view on whether those dates will move and plans on the basis that they will not.
A term contract running past 2038 is written with a clause on the position then obtaining. Maasdelta gives no assurance of supply beyond 31 December 2029, which is the date its licence expires. Whether the licence is renewed is decided on the terms then in force, and holding one now creates no expectation of holding one afterwards.
