Durability and the ecological budget
The printed copy must be durable and must be produced within the ecological budgets. A copy furnished to every dwelling is a substantial call on materials, so the edition is bound to last decades and is reprinted only upon amendment. Article 33 governs the repair and the useful life of goods generally.
The printing for the current edition consumed 1,840 tonnes of paper against an allocation of 1,900, and the figures are published in the account of the Office.
